The task:
This task introduces the concept of blogging to a class and combines it with book responses. This process is, in part, preparation for the children’s final piece of work for the theme of sessions outlined within this resource.
- Give the children 10 minutes to discuss the openings of their books using the “Tell Me” process.
- Explain to the children that they will log onto their blogging account (model this on IWB).
- Once all logged on model how to begin a “post”.
- Explain that you want the children to record their initial responses to the openings of the text on their blog. Model this.
- Allow the children 15 minutes for this initial blog.
- For the plenary allow the children time to look at other pupil’s posts and comment if they would like to. Model this and re-iterate that comments should be constructive.
Learning Outcomes:
- Children will engage with texts and express opinions.
- Children will use “blogging” to record responses.
- Children will comment and therefore peer assess each others work.
